The Chanel bridal swimsuit: The beach wedding piece I aspire to have

I don’t have wedding fever but I’m still that person who looks at bridal wear and thinks, “I wish I could wear that.” The dream dresses in my head would change from white lace to blush pink; from traditional to unexpected design choices. The options are endless. Thank goodness I’m not planning my wedding yet.

When Chanel showcased its Haute Couture Spring 2019 collection, attendees—and later, netizens—talked about the iconic bride. But instead of a flouncy dress, the model was wearing an embellished one-piece swimsuit and a swim cap that had a cathedral-length veil.

If you didn’t know, the fashion house is known for sending supermodels in couture brides down the runway. According to W Magazine, they’re usually muses handpicked by Karl Lagerfeld. The wedding dresses in the past usually veered away from what we’re used to seeing. One looked like a nun’s garment; another was a top-and-skirt ensemble with sheer fabric; and others go over-the-top with oversized details and frilly designs.

This swimsuit version is different and genius. Just imagine all the perks of this when you wear this on your wedding day.

You don’t have to think about getting a long flowy dress for your beach or poolside wedding. Wear a bathing suit, walk down the aisle, and you can swim to your heart’s content after the ceremony. Heck, you can even ask your guests and entourage to look cozy in their swimwear too.

But if you don’t want to walk down the aisle in a swimsuit, you can use a wraparound skirt. It can have a tropical print or a plain white one for a traditional feel. You can have it custom-made too!

Of course, it also doesn’t have to be as flashy as the Chanel bathing suit. You can use this as a reference for the style that you want.

How would you style this unique take on bridal wear?
