Months after Joni Koro proposed to Camille Co while on a trip in Japan, the two got engaged again—but this time, the Chinese way. Through IG Stories, Camille documented the ceremony, also known as tinghun. The couple kept with traditions like the soon-to-be bride walking backwards and turning around three times before finally meeting her fiancé, as well as the wearing of the corsage and drinking of tea.
Camille looked stunning in a gold and white dress with lace applique and embellished beads, which she revealed was the last Coexist by Camille Co dress ever made. Her hair was done by Marvin Santos, and her makeup was by Mariah Santos. Meanwhile, Joni looked dapper in a suit by Bianca Cordero.
Camille also revealed that the day was extra special because it was Joni’s birthday. She wrote, “Poor boy had to share the spotlight with me and endure a LOOOOOOONG day of tinghun (Chinese engagement) activities ? But at least, we have @thesugartrend tinghun cakes as a reward in the end.” The impressive cakes incorporated traditional Chinese tinghun luck symbols like the dragon, phoenix, and double happiness signs, but with a modern touch.
Congrats to the couple and happy birthday to Joni! Now that the tinghun is over, we can’t wait for the actual wedding. Do you think they will incorporate Chinese tradition there too? Let us know in the comments section.
