Preen Picks: If you could only follow one fashion account on IG, who would it be?

Hi I’m Rio, and I’m a serial Instagram-scroller. I don’t post much but it’s my go-to social media platform, especially for things that interest me like art, architecture, and fashion. I admit, sometimes I get lost and find myself scrolling for hours. Sometimes I see ads that catch my attention, which lead me to a certain account, and then before I can stop myself, I find myself clicking follow. Recently I noticed I follow too many fashion accounts so I applied Marie Kondo’s famous method, and unfollowed several of them, leaving only the ones that “spark joy” the most. It felt good to “declutter” my feed, but the process itself of editing the accounts I follow was sorta hard.

If you can relate and want to Konmarie your feed too, or simply want to know which are the essentials to follow (if you haven’t already), then this Preen Picks is for you. This week, we asked people from the office, if they could only follow one fashion-related Instagram account, who would it be?

@maggieonthaerocks

I always look at @maggieonthaerocks instagram for fashion inspiration mood(s), it’s basically a moodboard of the latest fashion eds, campaigns, styling etc. I love how curated, fresh, and tasteful the page is. It’s a perfect mishmash of art and fashion at the same time.  – JP Talapian, photographer

@alyshatakesphotos

It’s an account owned by model Alysha Nett, who’s mostly known for her lingerie photos, where she takes photos of her colleagues and friends—both men and women—for mini-fashion editorials. My personal favorites are the ones where it’s utilizing clothing, among other elements, to highlight the model’s tattoos. – Jackie Arias, Junior Content Creator, Preen.ph

@dietprada

It’s like the watchdog of the fashion industry, exposing fiery scandals like D&G’s anti-Chinese racism, Prada’s blackface knicknacks, and other cases of cultural appropriation and lack of diversity. They also “expose” fun stuff too, like when they pointed out last month that Stella Mccartney’s latest menswear collection had some phallic-looking clouds. I guess this is a bit of a cheat because I’d still be able to keep up with fashion news, but oh well. – Zofiya Acosta, Junior Content Creator, Northern Living, Southern Living.

@synthpea

I’d follow synthpea, we both have a deep admiration for Wes Anderson and his color palette. I absolutely love her mustard outfits and how she pulls it off no matter how yellow her whole look is. I wish I can wear those kinds of thick clothing in this weather. – Bianca Pilar, Marketing Graphic Artist

@mantou_ph

“They share minimalist (basic and denim wears) clothing pieces which is wearable no matter what season” – Nina Mamonong, Account Executive

@siduations

I’m trying to look at the accounts I follow, but top of mind account is @siduations. The account meme-fies fashion. I don’t know but fashion + humor in one account is enough  – Oliver Emocling, Associate Editor of Scout

@iamthat_shop

If I could follow just one fashion-related IG account, it would be @iamthat_shop. It’s an account of a shop that sells vintage clothes in Portland. They usually post photos of the pieces for sale and the styling is so good. It’s great to go through if you need some style inspiration or just need a pick me up in the middle of the day. To an extent, that is the kind of styling I want to achieve for myself. The use of bold colors and prints is so me. – Tisha Ramirez,  Junior Content Creator, Preen.ph
