I put together five monochromatic outfits for summer

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MANGO

Growing up, I remember using my summer break to develop my skills. I joined a lot of classes and workshops during that time. The older I got, the more that faded away. Instead, I used those months to hang out with friends and travel. Now, however, I realize the importance of balancing both. We may not have months of work anymore, but we can still find the middle ground between work, play, and strengthening culture. Summer is approaching so you have some time to figure out how you’re going to do that. Once you’ve mapped out what you want to do, you’re going to need the perfect outfit to go along with it. Perhaps you want to visit a museum or throw a garden party. Whatever the case, we can help you out in that department. Looking through the new pieces from Mango’s SS19 collection, I noticed that we can achieve so many monochromatic looks. I’ve seen so many ensembles on social media with this theme and have even tried it myself. From light greens to chrome, get ready for your summer itinerary with these outfits.

The greenery

You can wear head-to-toe green without looking like the Grinch. Instead, have your ensemble mirror the bright green shade of the flora around you. You can still layer during the summer too, just keep your pieces light. Slip dresses are in so try throwing it over a sleeveless top that has a mock neckline. Accessorize with a crossbody bag and trendy oversized barrettes in different shapes. For shoes, go for high-cut sneakers that have a hint of green. We can see this worn at any outdoor summer party.

Nudes on nudes on nudes

Get a little cheeky with an all-nude outfit, and we don’t mean your birthday suit. Give your micro shorts a rest and go for something a little longer but still keeps you breezy. For the top, go with a matching colored-fabric vest. I suggest wearing this on its own buttoned up. The vibe is very Julia Roberts in the ‘90s. Keep everything clean and simple with a bucket hat and high-top sneakers. This is a perfect out of town outfit. Don’t forget to snap those OOTDs.

Crisp white

I am a sucker for a white outfit. You definitely have to be more careful but it just looks so cool. Make a denim on denim look more exciting by making it white. I think a pair of white pants is a closet staple so pick these up if you don’t already have one. Over a plain tee, wear this denim jacket. Okay, this bangle is technically clear but fits in with the vibe of the outfit. For all your essentials, carry this bucket bag.

Oh so blue

Mimic the calmness of the sky or body of water with these clothes. Cycling shorts are still in and they now come in so many styles, like this one. Keep the top loose with something long-sleeved. You can wear this alone buttoned up or as an outerwear over a bodysuit or crop top. Protect your eyes from the sun with these oversized sunglasses that have a sporty vibe. Not enough accessories? Throw on this clear blue acrylic knot necklace.

Pop of chrome

Chrome and metallics can be summer-appropriate. Imagine the amount of light it could reflect when sunlight—or moonlight—hits it. I live for sheer dresses so this one is on my with list. Layer this over a slip or biker shorts and a bralette. Make the look more dressy with this shiny button up top. Keep the theme going with this crossbody bag and sandals. Wear this at the beach or nighttime get-together.
