Bb. Pilipinas 2019 national costume: Here are the standouts

While everyone was still reeling from all the Met Gala 2019 lewks, Bb. Pilipinas did a “hold my beer” moment and posted a national costume photo album. Take a seat because all 40 photos are extravagant AF.

According to Bb. Pilipinas’ Facebook page, the beauty queens’ ensembles are “showcasing the rich heritage of the Philippines made by our talented and creative Filipino designers.” These photos are also displayed at National Costume Photo Exhibit at Gateway Mall in Cubao. The exhibit also includes the gowns of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Jehza Huelar, Michele Gumabao, and Eva Patalinjug.

Aside from the usual baro’t saya and sarimanok costumes, several queens opted for unique looks. Martina Turner Diaz of Muntinlupa wore a dark glittery ensemble while holding a golden sword and scale—a look that would give Jon Snow a run for his money. One netizen pointed out that Martina’s look is inspired by “her advocacy, as in the interest of justice.”

Patricia Magtanong of Bataan, the viral beauty queen who recently passed the 2018 Bar Exam, dressed up as legendary warrior princess, Urduja. She wore a gold armor-like outfit complete with a sword and shield.

Another standout is Samantha Poblete of Cavite, who went the gender-bending route and dressed up in an updated version of Emilio Aguinaldo’s uniform.

That’s just some of the looks that caught our eye. Feel free to tell us your favorites as well!
