A-list hairstylist Ken Pavés’ online auction aims to help children with cleft lip

Ken Pavés, hairstylist to A-list stars such as Oprah, and the Beckhams, was in the Philippines to work on his lifelong advocacy: Help provide free treatment to children with cleft lip and palate, one of the most common birth defects in the Philippines and in the world.

“Left untreated, one in 10 children with a cleft lip or palate will die before their first birthday,” Ken said. “This cause is very close to my heart because my nephew Ryan was one of those children. He was born with Trisomy and other birth defects which took his life at 15 months old. He is still my greatest model and my inspiration to be of service to the world.” For Ryan and her mother, who was born in the Philippines, Ryan pledged his support to nonprofit organization Bright Faces, with the help of RGPI Professional Beauty, in launching their inaugural mission to the Philippines. This week, they were able to provide free surgeries and treatment to 60 children in Cabanatuan City.

To further raise funds for this mission, Ken and his celebrity clients and fellow philanthropists are currently hosting an online auction, featuring one-of-a-kind items such as Diana Ross-autographed memorabilia, Oprah’s signed faux fur coat (which appeared at the cover of The Oprah Magazine), signed jersey and Adidas cleats from David Beckham, and Suicide Squad cap signed by Will Smith.
