Taking fashion notes from ‘Stranger Things’ Eleven and Max

Stranger Things 3 has finally been released, and oh man. If you haven’t watched it, all I can say is there were tons of great moments, so you shouldn’t sleep on it. For instance, this season, Max and Eleven gave us the definition of friendship goals. While proving yet again how badass they are, the pair also served looks. If that caught your attention too, you’re in luck. Here’s a guide on how you can cop their nostalgic ’80s style.

Max on a rainy day

While they investigate what El saw through her powers, Max brought color into the dark and grim scene with her youthful ensemble, particularly that bright raincoat. Could it be some form of symbolism? Hey, it’s likely the Duffer brothers are trying to tell us something. Or maybe it just looked cute.

Clockwise: Uniqlo Oversized Parka, available at SM Makati. Lou and Grey Signaturesoft Split Neck Tee, available on Nordstrom. YMC Wide-leg Shorts, available on Farfetch. Converse Chuck 70 High Top, available at Glorietta 2.

Max at the mall

Max and El’s strong bond started with, what else, a spontaneous shopping sesh at the mall. While she helped out El explore the power of retail therapy, the skater-girl exuded the casual ’80s look with her striped shirt, denim shorts, and Vans sneakers.

Clockwise: Cotton On The Sister Short Sleeve Tee, available at Bonifacio High Street. Pull and Bear Denim Bermudas with Elastic Waistband, available at SM Megamall. Vans Anaheim Factory Era 95 DX, available at Trinoma.

El fights the mind flayer

Who says you can’t fight a monster while looking cute? The first time El was “face to face” with the mind flayer this season, she wore a patterned shirt, suspenders, jeans, and a cute scrunchie. She still managed to intimidate the enemy though.

Clockwise: Topshop Yellow Velvet Scrunchie, available at Greenbelt 3. Bershka High-waist Mom Jeans, available at SM Aura. Reebok Freestyle Hi sSneaker, available at Glorietta. Enimal Penfield Open Collar Shirt, available at Suez and Zapote, Makati.

El investigates

While Max rocked the casual look with a shirt, shorts, and mustard Chucks, El channeled a more serious vibe as they were investigating her vision, with her black shirt and grey trousers combo. Yup, this girl means business.

L-R: Uniqlo Ribbed Boat Neck Half Sleeve Tee, available at Glorietta 5. Mango Belt Straight-fit Trousers, available at Power Plant.

El gets fashion inspo from Hopper

From the first season, it’s obvious El’s style is inspired by Hopper. Of course, she basically had no choice. She was always wearing his shirts. And I must say, I found it delightful that this season, even after she had undergone that whole fashion makeover courtesy of Max, in the end, we still see her wearing his shirts. I cry.

L-R: Hopeshow Checked Shirt, available on Zalora. Zara Jeans ZW Premium New Chino, available at Power Plant Mall.
