Miley Cyrus finally set the record straight about her split from Liam Hemsworth. And no, she did not cheat on him with Kaitlynn Carter.
The singer-actress posted a statement on Twitter and Instagram where she brought up her past controversies—from her drug use, cheating in her previous relationships, and how she lost brand deals and movie roles. But what she doesn’t accept is being called a “liar” amid her separation.
“The truth is, once Liam [and] I reconciled, I meant it, [and] I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here,” Miley wrote. “I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before [and] it remains true, I love Liam and always will.”
Miley continued that she “had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind.” She also promised that the decision has, so far, made her the happiest.
This is also the same reason a source close to Liam told Entertainment Tonight. The actor has reportedly filed for the divorce because he realized it was “time to move on.”
“They are too different. Liam never wanted to share Miley with anyone. He loves her and he is far too traditional. He finally realized he just wants to start fresh,” the source said.
Miley and Liam got married in December after being on and off for 10 years. Their split was announced this August, almost eight months after saying “I do.” Miley also released a song titled “Slide Away” which had themes about moving on and growing up.
Our hearts are breaking even more, but we wish the best for the two of them.
