Riding high on the wave of her latest movie, Everything About Her, Angel Locsin wants to take it easy for the next project she might be taking on. The actress is still firm about her decision to no longer reprise her role as Darna in an upcoming film installment of the local superhero franchise.
She tells Bandera, “Nakita niyo naman po ang interview ko po sa Abunda Tonight. Noong sinabi ko po na hindi po ako magda-Darna? Ako po kasi, nagpapagaling pa po. Not for anything else, kung sakali, kung sakali po, tingnan natin. (You saw my interview in Abunda Tonight. When I said I wouldn’t be playing Darna? I am still letting myself recover. Not for anything else but we’ll see, just in case, we’ll see).”
Last year, Angel suffered a back injury that required surgery and is still undergoing follow-up therapy for it. It is also the reason why she turned down playing Darna once again. She also adds how she needs to take care of herself for personal plans. “Kasi kailangan healthy lang po ako, gusto kong magka-baby sa future rin, (I just need to be healthy as I plan to have a baby in future).” Hmm…is there something else we should know about your current relationship with Luis Manzano you’d like to tell us about, Angel?
Either way, further details of the Darna movie are under wraps and it’s still undetermined who will be replacing Angel. Perhaps fans are still hoping that Angel might change her mind and don the red costume once more.
Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see if Angel can gather up the strength to be a superhero once more. But before she can start saving anyone onscreen, she’s got to save herself IRL first.
