Rebel Wilson is producing a film that’s like a K-pop “Pitch Perfect”

A lot of us know Rebel Wilson as the talented and funny Fat Amy in “Pitch Perfect.” Now it looks like she’s taking her love for music to another level as she produces a K-pop-inspired film titled “Seoul Girl.”

According to Deadline, the comedy film was written by Wilson, with revisions made by Korean screenwriter Young Il-Kim. It will revolve around a Korean-American high school girl who enters a worldwide talent competition with her friends to become the opening act for the world’s biggest K-pop boy band. They will be trained by an ex-member of a British girl group (we’re guessing Wilson will play this role even though she’s Australian) and a former K-pop trainee.

There’s no news yet on who the boy band will be, but we have a suggestion: BTS.

Based on the information we have right now, this sounds like the K-pop version of “Pitch Perfect.” Some netizens have negative reactions to the news, but it’s mostly rooted in the misinformation that Rebel Wilson will be the lead actress in the film. (She won’t.) However, it is important to cast Asian leads and respect K-pop culture in this film.

“Seoul Girls” doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but is anyone looking forward to this film?
