We dare you to resist P60 books at Big Bad Wolf Manila 2020

It’s that time of the year again: Big Bad Wolf (BBW) Book Sale Manila 2020 is happening from Feb. 14 to 24 at the World Trade Center. If you’ve never  heard of BBW, allow us to give you a refresher.

Started in Malaysia, it’s the largest 24-hour book sale in Asia. The first sale held in the Philippines happened in 2018 with two million books sold at 50 to 80 percent off. Last year, BBW had sales in Manila, Pampanga, Cebu, and Davao.

So, what can we expect for this year’s BBW?

Entrance is free

All you need is cash, a tote bag to put your books in, and a list of books you want to buy.

There will be over two million books with up to 90 percent off their retail price. We suggest you go early or when it’s not too crowded so you’ll have enough time to dig through the book piles. (Don’t worry, BBW divides titles by genres to make it easier for everyone.)

“Crazy Deals”

This year, BBW will have a “Crazy Deals” promo where they’ll offer further markdowns on select titles. According to their press release, book prices can go as low as P60. Make sure to check BBW Philippines’ Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.

Augmented reality (AR) books are back

Last year, BBW introduced the Magical Books series, which are AR children’s books. How does it work? Some pages have a badge that you scan using the Hippo Magic app on your phone, which will then give you  access to interactive activities you can play with your kids.

For 2020, Magical Books has 12 new titles including “Frozen: A Sleepover Party” and “Winnie the Pooh: The First Words.” There’s also going to be a buy five, get one promo. These books are the perfect gifts for your kids, nieces or nephews.

For a good cause

BBW has a partnership with Gawad Kalinga in the Philippines which holds outreach programs in underprivileged communities nationwide. This year, BBW will be donating 1,000 books to barangays and public schools in Mindoro and affected communities of the Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas. More books from all the BBW sales happening this year will be donated to these communities.
