If you’re not busy on the 22nd and 23rd, head to Puerto Real Gardens for UNKNWN.Fiesta, the first ever music and arts festival of UNKNWN, a project dedicated to creating a stage, via non-conventional venues, for both international and local artists.
A night full of music, art and food, UNKNWN.Fiesta, the first ever music and arts festival that aims to raise environmental awareness (which is also celebration of UNKNWN’s 4th anniversary), aims to showcase the life and spirit of Filipino fiestas like the Ati-atihan, Sinulog and Pahiyas.
Not convinced? Here’s a list of reasons why you should go:
Art
Your trash is Jessica Dorizac and Miguel Aquilizan’s treasure as they create a giant installation of the word “attractive” out of ocean waste.
Aside from the great installations from local artists, the different stages also have their own stories designed by contemporary artist Leeroy New and production designer Paul Jatayna.
Music
What’s a party without some music? It’s gonna be a whole day of dancing with this solid lineup—from DJ sets by Friendly Fires and Hot Chip to live performances by Joey Abando of Boyfriends and Big Hat Gang.
Merchandise
If you think the art installations are eco-friendly, you should check out the merch.
Partnering with TOQA and EC, UNKNWN.Fiesta’s merch are made out of recycled fabrics and textiles—from bucket hats to bags.
There are also some shirts up for grabs by Support Your Friends, a local brand that produces high-quality threads.
Sustainability efforts
And if you think parties and festivals can’t be sustainable, think again. UNKNWN.Fiesta put all their effort on making this festival zero-waste by partnering with eco-friendly brand Eco-Nest, who will supply the cutleries, plates and cups for the event.
Kleen Kanteen is also joining in on the sustainable fun by providing free-flowing water, just use your own tumbler or the Save Cups provided.
