What you need to know about the Metro Manila community quarantine

Last night, Pres. Duterte announced that Metro Manila will be under “community quarantine”  starting Mar. 15 until Apr. 14. Now, what does this mean? After watching the press conference last night, many were still unsure of the guidelines. However, in an interview with DZMM reporters Alvin Elchico and Doris Bigornia, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año listed some points of clarification.

1.  Deliveries in and out of Metro Manila will still be allowed but the drivers and helpers will have to remain in their respective trucks.

2. As of now, there are no restrictions when buying food and supplies. There will only be a limit when buying alcohol, which is two per person per transaction.

3. For those who live outside Metro Manila are allowed to go to work. These employees just have to show proof at check points. For this, a company ID will do.

4. There will be restrictions for mass land transportation in and out of Metro Manila.

5. Starting March 15, all domestic air transportation will be restricted with no exemptions.

6. As a reminder, “this is not a total lockdown but a limited quarantine to minimize spread of [the] virus.”
