These designers are donating retaso masks to frontliners

Aside from making masks out of retaso and donating them to frontliners, RIOtaso (a clothing brand that makes use of scrap fabric) is continuing to help remedy the shortage of masks by encouraging other designers and people who know how to sew to join their cause.

Their first batch of #RIOsable masks came out last Mar. 16. According to their Instagram post, they will be donating one mask to frontliners for every three masks that will be sold. Deliveries will strictly be through Grab and Lalamove only, with the fees shouldered by the buyer.

The following day, Mar. 17, RIOtaso announced the release of their second batch of #RIOsable masks. Along with this, they’ve shared the list of volunteer designers (with their contact details and location) who are helping them out.

RIOtaso’s Rio Estuar also called out to other designers and those who know how to sew since the demands for face masks have skyrocketed since they first launched the project. In the post, Estuar said that RIOtaso is more than willing to teach volunteers how to make these masks with filters in them.

They also partnered with designer Santi Obcena in creating an instructional video teaching us how to make filtered masks out of umbrellas and eco bags.

Speaking of retaso made into reusable masks, Randolf Clothing is also taking part in the initiative by distributing their masks to, initially, the garbage collectors around them.

They’ve also made a GDrive containing ready-to-print patterns with instructions on how you can make your own.

If you’re interested in helping out by either buying their masks or helping make masks, you can check out RIOtaso’s Instagram and Facebook pages for more details.
