With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting our country, many people are trying to do their part in helping those in need. On social media, we’ve been seeing how fashion designers and their teams are using their skills and resources to support frontliners. Earlier this week, some designers posted that they were making reusable masks from scrap fabric to donate to frontliners.
Last night, designer Michael Leyva posted that his team “will be donating PPEs, head covers and masks” to frontliners.
He also shared some photos of their workspace. You can see him and his team cutting green fabric, sewing and a mannequin with the finished product.
Aside from Leyva, there is also a Facebook group called Manila Protective Gear Sewing Club. They are “a group of volunteers from the fashion industry helping to produce PPE that will be distributed via the office of the Vice President.” If you would like to volunteer and help produce protective gear, you can join the Facebook group for instructions, patterns and updates.
