It’s no secret that Lee Min-ho has been everyone’s crush ever since “Boys Over Flowers.” As Gu Jun-pyo, the actor has won over millions of hearts for his ability to play both strong and soft personalities. Since then, Lee Min-ho has continued starring in many different shows that prove his versatility as an actor.
Just recently, his upcoming show “King: Eternal Monarch,” which is set to be released this April, has been gaining attention. For those who don’t know much about him, here are some K-dramas you can binge before “King: Eternal Monarch” is released:
“Legend of the Blue Sea”
Loosely inspired by the old Joseon folklore about how a fisherman captures and releases a mermaid, “Legend of the Blue Sea” follows the love story between the beautiful mermaid Shim Chung (Jun Ji-hyun) and conman Heo Joon-jae (Lee Min-ho), whose step-mother wants him dead for inheritance. Despite their story being parallel to their previous lives (where they don’t end up together), they set out to fight for their happy ending.
“The Heirs”
In this story about how money can affect relationships, Lee Min-ho plays Kim Tan, a rich man’s second son from his mistress. After meeting working student Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye) in the US (who was stuck there due to her sister’s greed), Kim Tan grows fond of her and decides to come home to Korea after she does. His homecoming opens up some childhood wounds, family issues and the start of a forbidden love affair with Cha Eun-sang.
“Boys Over Flowers”
“Boys Over Flowers” is the Korean adaptation of the popular Chinese romance “Meteor Garden.” The adaptation is also loosely based on the Japanese manga “Hana Yori Dango.” In “Boys Over Flowers,” Lee Min-ho plays F4 (a group feared by their schoolmates) leader Gu Jun-pyo. Geum Jan-di (Ku Hye-sun), who comes from a poor family, enters this school and claims she isn’t intimidated by the group, which irritates Jun-pyo. He eventually falls for her and fights for their love, even if it means going against his iron lady mom.
“City Hunter”
A story of vengeance, “City Hunter” follows the story of Lee Min-ho’s Lee Yoon-sung as he plots against the five politicians who caused his father’s death. After graduating from MIT, he starts working for the international communications department of the Blue House, the official residence of South Korea’s head of state, to be closer to his targets.
