Alba Flores on taking a break from ‘Money Heist’: “It’s liberating”

Spoilers ahead!

If you haven’t finished the fourth season of “Money Heist,” we suggest you click away now.

Just like its previous seasons, “Money Heist” was a rollercoaster of emotions. But this season left a lot of people in tears after the death of Nairobi (Alba Flores).

In the first episode, viewers let out a sigh of relief after Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) successfully removed the bullet lodged in Nairobi’s lung, helping her teammate survive after being shot in season three. Throughout season four, we saw how Nairobi still tried to do her duty despite being in a makeshift mechanical wheelchair.

But in Nairobi’s last few episodes, bodyguard Gandía (José Manuel Poga) held her hostage and promised to give her back to her teammates alive. She was later shot in the head as she was walking towards the team.

Cue the tears and the “For Nairobi!” chants.

Flores’ exit was an emotional one. In a clip from “Money Heist: The Phenomenon,” we see the actress tearfully thanking the cast and crew as she said goodbye to them. “I’ve been working with some of the team for many years now and I want to thank everyone for everything you’ve taught me. I’ve grown here as an actress, more than I ever imagined I would and as a person too. And you’re a f*cking great team.”

“I hope I get to film 16,000 times more with you. I’m going to miss you all,” says Flores. She then proceeds to hug her co-stars.

After leaving the set, Flores said it was a liberating feeling to not worry about work for a while “because, well, I need a rest.”

Flores has been part of “Money Heist” since the first season, becoming one of the most beloved characters because of her confident character and her title as “la puta ama” (the f*cking boss) among workers.

In an interview with Preen.ph, Flores said she would love “Money Heist” to have “more stronger female presence” and for a “feminist scale” to happen at the end of the show.

You will be missed, Nairobi.
