Our jaws dropped when SM Entertainment confirmed that they will be debuting Red Velvet’s first sub-unit with Irene and Seulgi. We first met the duo in an SM Rookies performance video for the song “Be Natural” under the name SR14G. It’s fitting that five years after that initial glimpse, we’re getting treated to another project from the two. They’re still keeping their lips sealed about the unit’s concept, but considering how they’re both great dancers and a rapper-vocalist duo, we’re pretty hyped up.
Irene and Seulgi aren’t just admired as entertainers. The K-pop superstars are also beauty and style icons. They have us taking fashion notes whether they’re on the set, onstage or on the streets. Here are some of our fave K-fashion looks from these ultra-trendy idols that you might want to recreate for your next video reference.
Lace ruffled strapless crop top
Red Velvet’s “Psycho” music video was full of outfits that had us green with envy. The song was chilling, sexy and a total bop. It went really well with the video that had a rich-women-murder-cheating-husbands vibe. It was such a serve and we couldn’t help but include one of the fits on this list.
Irene had on a white lace ruffled strapless crop top paired with black high-waisted wide-legged tailored pants. It was styled with a chunky diamond locket necklace that really had you zeroing in on her collarbones. The rhinestone eye makeup was a great finish that added to the bling factor.
Cream camisole bubble top
Speaking of the rhinestone makeup trend, Seulgi had rhinestone tears for this soft girl outfit. In our opinion, this particular look didn’t get enough screen time (a mere two seconds!) on the “Psycho” music video.
She wore a cream camisole bubble top with ’90s era faded blue jeans. Add in the messy space buns and you have yourself an ensemble that will give even the girls of “Euphoria” a run for their money.
Printed shirt dress
A printed shirt dress is a bit of a gamble for me. The wrong print can make you look frumpy or gaudy. Shirt dresses in general can be unflattering if it doesn’t frame your shape right. However, Irene was able to pull off the dainty lady look in this landscape printed shirt dress with bell sleeves and a standing collar.
Instead of loud colors, her white shirt dress is decorated with a blue-colored print that is reminiscent of antique East Asian tea sets with blue patterns. She cinches it with a black belt and puts her hair in a bun to complete the polished look.
Mid-length skirt suit
Seulgi often opts for jeans but she can definitely rock skirts too. Mid-length skirt suits were big in the ’70s and we’re hoping that it makes a comeback in today’s fashion scene. Some pencil skirts are too restrictive and we’re tired of having to stay cautious in too-short skirts.
Seulgi is a vision in yellow with her short-sleeved tailored blazer and button front mid-length skirt combo. The semi-boxy silhouette also contributes to its smart, comfortable appeal.
Cropped cardigan and sweatpants
Athleisure fans, please consider this. We’re living in our loungewear these days. One way to add a soft and romantic touch to your sweatpants look is by matching it with knitwear.
Irene wore this get-up with classic black Vans sneakers for a dance cover so, we just know that it’s perfect for your next dance challenge TikTok.
Reveluv or not, we’re sure you too can’t get enough of these K-fashion queens.
