The wait is over! Today’s the day IU’s newest single “eight” (featuring BTS’ Suga) is going to be released. Many fans have already been at the edge of their seats since the collaboration was first announced, but the teaser posted last night is making them want more.
IU’s style of music is on the R&B side, compared to BTS’ pop music. So when the news of this upcoming collaboration came (with confirmation from her agency that it was going to be different from her usual style), fans were excited to see another side to the “Hotel Del Luna” star. Fans have also been speculating how Suga would be adding his own flare to the song, since he’s also had his fair share of writing for his own group’s music.
Looking at the teaser, the music video looks like it will have some pretty futuristic themes. (IU might be an android in this?) At least, there are clips of IU on what looks like an observation table with metal sticking out of her ear which implies that. The teaser also includes a sound bite which might be from the actual song itself. If it is, it sounds more mellow than BTS’ usual style. However, we can’t really say for sure since we’ve been fooled by teasers before: Twice’s “Feel Special” turned out to be an upbeat song when the teasers made it seem like it would be a ballad.
