Friday seems to be the premiere streaming date for award-winning films like “The Kingmaker.”
Last night, it was announced that “Sunday Beauty Queen” will be can be streamed for free on to YouTube on May 15. Directed by Baby Ruth Villarama, the docu-film tells the story of Filipino domestic workers in Hong Kong who meet up every Sunday to train and join beauty pageants in the city.
The film first premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2016. It was also part of the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival (aka the year where more independent films were given the spotlight) where it won Best Picture.
Fans of the film have expressed their excitement on social media, encouraging everyone to stream “Sunday Beauty Queen” once it’s up on YouTube.
Some have also warned that the documentary will make you cry. Better prep your Kleenex just in case.
