Trigger warning: rape, sexual assault
Sharon Cuneta has reached out to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra about a netizen that threatened to rape her daughter Frankie Pangilinan.
In a report by Inquirer, Guevarra confirms that Cuneta intends to file a complaint. “Ms. Sharon Cuneta has brought this matter to my attention and has expressed her strong desire to file a criminal complaint against the person who posted the offending message in social media. I advised her that the identity of the person and his location should first be clearly established.”
Earlier today, ABS-CBN News confirmed that the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) cybercrime division is already looking for leads. Cybercrime Division chief Victor Lorenzo said, “May directive sa amin si OIC ng NBI para tingnan iyong issue… Tiningnan namin kung saan kami mag-uumpisa, anong magiging lead.”

On June 20, Cuneta took to Instagram to post a screenshot of a “Sonny Alcos” who posted that if he were younger, he would rape Cuneta’s 19-year-old daughter. The lengthy post detailed Cuneta’s plans to sue him for his rape threats. According to the post, the man has since deleted his social media but Sharon’s team is already working on verifying his identity.
In all caps, the post also reads, “I will personally make sure this kababuyan you have posted to disrespect my daughter in this despicable, malicious and insidious way will be of great interest to them. Hahanapin kita. You crossed the line. God help me and the law! God, help you when I find you.”
Frankie Pangilinan recently spoke out about victim-blaming remarks from police stations, as well as TV personalities. Her response also started the #HijaAko movement, which saw people speaking up about the prevailing rape culture and victim-blaming in the country.
