With the world slowly easing quarantine restrictions to boost economic activity, 26 countries lifted their border restrictions to Filipinos flying from the Philippines.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Jun. 28 that Filipinos are now allowed to leave the country for essential travel and can return to 26 countries including the United States of America, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand.
The DFA also said that 78 other countries that are among the usual destinations for Filipino workers have eased their travel restrictions to those coming from the Philippines. These 78 countries include Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.
However, this doesn’t mean that Filipinos can travel to these 78 countries for a vacation. Only those who have work or residency permits, diplomatic passports or special permission to enter and those who have connecting flights may be allowed to enter these countries.
While this allows repatriated Filipino workers to go back to their places of work, the DFA warned that travel restrictions may change without a public announcement and advised travelers to contact the embassy or consulate of their destination countries and ports of transit before arranging their flights.
