CLOY’s Son Ye-jin is starring in a Hollywood movie and we are so here for it

Have you been missing “Crash Landing on You’s” Yoon Se-ri and Captain Ri as much as we have? Last May, we were crazy with excitement over news of Hyun Bin’s upcoming visit to Manila. This time, we’re smiling over news of Son Ye-jin possibly starring in a Hollywood sci-fi film. MS Team Entertainment announced today, “Son Ye-jin is in talks for the movie ‘The Cross,’ and the outlook is favorable. Unless there are any huge changes, she’ll be going through with it.”

Should Son accept the role, she will be starring opposite “Avatar’s” Sam Worthington in a film about a fictional, multi-racial divided nation set in the future. She will play Vera, a single mother living near the border of the poverty-stricken side of the country. Worthington’s character resides in the wealthier part of the nation. “Parasite” star Lee Sun-gyun, on the other hand, was offered the role of a charismatic border commander named Gideon.

Hodu & U Entertainment also announced today that while Lee Sun-gyun is being offered a role in and is reviewing “The Cross,” his participation in the film is not yet confirmed.

According to Star News, director Andrew Niccol (“The Truman Show,” “The Host”) drew inspiration for the tentatively-titled film “The Cross” from a visit to Korea last year. The division of Korea piqued his interest and had him wanting to work on a movie in the country and with its stars. During his visit, Niccol reportedly requested for a personal call with Son Ye-jin and Lee Sun-gyun.

“The Cross” is slated to start shooting in Korea next year, although the schedule can still change due to COVID-19. We have our fingers crossed and hope that we can watch our fave unnie on the big screen soon.
