They made the announcement via V Live, and Koreaboo quotes the group’s leader RM saying that they “wanted to show some support for ARMYs, who are struggling to get through the coronavirus pandemic” which is why they’re doing “a single release in August.”
They also spilled that the new single would be in English. It’s not the first time though that the group recorded a song in English—they did English verses on “Mic Drop” in 2017 and were the featured artist on Steve Aoki’s “Waste It On Me” in 2018—but Forbes notes that this “could be the first time the full group performs on an all-English track” (though “Waste It On Me” credits BTS, only three members performed in it).
“We tried recording a guide and decided that the English lyrics give a better vibe. It’s new and refreshing. So we said we’ll stick to making this an English track,” Koreaboo quotes V.
