Impeccable timing, I must say. Netflix Thailand just announced that they started production for the upcoming season of “Girl From Nowhere.” And since we’re probably looking at an October release, Nanno might be transferring to Philippine schools. (I kid, I kid.)
The Thai mystery anthology was released back in 2018 but only gained popularity in the Philippines early this year. It follows Nanno (played by Chicha Amatayakul) as she transfers into different schools and exposes the students’ and faculty’s worst-kept secrets.
According to the show’s entry on Spikes Asia 2019, it’s inspired by “13 true incidents where schoolgirls have been victimized.” The idea was to take these stories and show it in a way that would let people realize that victimization is not women’s destiny.
Despite the story being heavily driven by revenge, the producers aim for women empowerment as they claim to be “the first entertainment series powered by women to empower women.”
It’s been two years since the original release and viewers were just about to lose hope on the show being renewed for another season, so this news comes as a welcomed surprise for “Girl From Nowhere” fans. Just keep your eyes peeled. Nanno might be transferring into your school.
