NCTzens defeat the NCT 2020 member voting system

NCTzens, how are you holding up? Today, we were able to witness the fandom’s power as the collective disapproval for the NCT 2020 member voting system had SM Entertainment backtracking on its initial plan. Yes, we don’t need to vote for our NCT bias to have them included in live promotions anymore.

The announcement was posted on NCT’s Twitter page and it included an apology to the fans. Allkpop translated the post which read:

“Greetings fans who love NCT.

We apologize for causing confusion and commotion over the voting program <WISH 2020>, which was to be held for the <NCT 2020 LIVE EVENT>.

We prepared <WISH 2020> in celebration of the first full album for the group. We planned this unit group event in the hopes that the fans can create promotional content together. We have come to agree with the fans’ concerns over this project and decided to change the event planning.

We will be holding the voting event only for <Want!: Choose what you want NCT to do for you>.

The unit groups of the [23] members will be chosen by the NCT members through V Live broadcast and will show new aspects of the members through various content.

We ask you to show much interest and support for NCT 2020.

Thank you.”

On Sept. 23, SM Entertainment announced the voting system in a live event called “WISH 2020.” On the NCT 2020 website, fans were asked to vote for which members they wanted to see participate in special promotion activities by inserting a serial number which will be included in the new album “NCT 2020: RESONANCE Pt. 1.” Fans were upset with this announcement and trended #BoycottNCTVoting in response.

With the change in the system, fans no longer have to fight for their bias to get more content. Instead, the only thing we’re asked to vote for on the website are the activities we want to see such as a costume online fan signing event, a mobile game contest, a 24-hour relay cam or a pajama party.

That’s not the only thing that went down on “WISH 2020.” Newcomers Sungchan and Shotaro were introduced and there was also a welcoming ceremony for WayV members Yangyang, Xiaojun and Hendery.

OT23 stans, are you ready for the upcoming album drop on Oct. 12? The group also announced we’re getting “NCT 2020: RESONANCE Pt. 2” in November. We’re eating good, NCTzens.
