Instagram accounts every coffee lover should follow

It’s nothing personal but I don’t trust people who don’t like coffee. Making someone a cup of coffee is part of my love language. It’s like a warm hug, words of encouragement and a “Have a great day” all rolled into one. I don’t usually holler about my love for the drink but since it’s International Coffee Day, I think I get a free pass.

For my fellow enthusiasts out there, I’m spilling my Instagram favorites for coffee content. From brewers to equipment shops, here are the Instagram accounts that you should be following right now.

Coffee Crawler PH

Before curating for the Coffee Crawl Series, Franz Domasian was already running his specialty coffee page Coffee Crawler PH. A regular at brewing parties and workshops from the likes of the Institute for Coffee Excellence, you can tell he’s committed to the craft.

From the name, you can hazard a guess that he does coffee crawls. Trying out the offerings of different shops, he’s on a mission to showcase the local coffee scene—mostly in Alabang, Makati and La Union—and he writes reviews and shares what makes each shop tick. Not letting the quarantine stop him from doing what he loves, he started a virtual coffee crawl tag and has uploaded a series of at-home brewing videos.

Coffee Cup Series

Iana and Lendl are the co-curators for the Coffee Crawl Series and they also run a page of their own called “Coffee Cup Series.” If you’ve run out of coffee-related recipes to try out, this the page for you.

They’ve got coffee classics and eccentric coffee experiments such as cold brew mixed with coconut juice. Apart from specialty coffee info, the page also boasts coffeagraphy (a combo of coffee and photography) that I could stare at all day long.

Method Brewers PH

The folks at Method Brewers want everybody to have a chance to learn hand-crafted brewing methods with their manual espresso machines that kinda look like sexy microscopes. Brewing is a science, and with this shop’s brew-tech, it definitely feels like it.

Method Brewers recommends the Neo Flair Espresso Maker and The Royal Grinder for beginners but you can upgrade them with accessories like gauge kits fit for a pro. Apart from their goods, they also post brewing sessions where you can learn tips from the likes U.S. Barista Champion Lem Butler.

El Kapitan Coffee

One of my favorite shops for coffee gear is El Kapitan Coffee. You can have the best of both worlds here: cop the cutest cups and kettles, but also extremely sleek brewing machines. If you’re going for that modern cozy vibe in your kitchen, you’ll want to check out their collection.

My top picks from their shop include the funky The Kōno 3-cup coffee syphon for its coffee lab aesthetic and The Origami Dripper. I can pretend I’m in a chic Japanese cafe with these items.

Boop Home Diary

I’m a big fan of odd homeware pieces and Boop Home Diary is one of my new go-to’s for them. If you want kooky creatures on your table, they have some contenders that are vying for your attention.

Take a peek at their Bugabee and Bugaboo ceramic mugs or their peekaboo animal cups. Sure, coffee is enough to put an instant smile on my face but having it on the cutest ceramics is a definite plus. What can I say? I’m a simple gal.
