These Filipino rappers are under fire for allegedly plagiarizing BTS

Ex Battalion’s Flow G and Skusta Clee’s new song apparently sounds too similar to BTS’ “Ddaeng” and ARMYs are not having it.

On Sept. 22, rapper Flow G released “DEYM” with Skusta Clee to promote a local clothing brand on YouTube. It didn’t take long for local ARMYs to notice that the beat and lyric punctuations were eerily similar to “Ddaeng,” a 2018 SoundCloud release by BTS’ rap line RM, Suga and J-Hope.

Check out the two songs below:

Skusta Clee, on a now-private Twitter account, said “hiniram lang namin yung beat and vibe.” Since BTS and their producers were not credited anywhere either on “DEYM,” ARMYs accused the “Hayaan Mo Sila” rappers of plagiarism. #SkustaCleeisGoingtoJailParty started trending as the K-pop global fanbase began urging fellow ARMYs online to report the YouTube video and to email Big Hit Entertainment to take legal action against the Ex B pair.

Flow-G, who’s real name is Archie Dela Cruz, issued a statement on Facebook to address the issue and said that he used a “generic flow,” “generic words,” and “generic beat” on his song to promote the clothing brand.

“Sorry sa mga fans na ibang klase sumuporta sa mga idolo nila. Di ko kayo masisisi kung anong pumapasok sa isip nyo. ’Wag kayo mag alala, naiintindihan ko kayo…Hindi ako fan ng BTS at mas lalong hindi ako HATER. Kaya yung mga comments against sa kanila, hindi ko yan kailangan dito. Labas na ko diyan sa mga nararamdaman nyo,” he added.

Preen.ph reached out to both Flow-G and Skusta Clee for a statement. As of Oct. 5, they have yet to respond.
