This local label’s upcoming collection is for breakfast lovers

How do you like your eggs in the morning? Scrambled? On the side of toast? Well, this local fashion brand likes theirs all over their upcoming collection.

Designer duo Abraham Guardian and Mamuro Oki, a.k.a. Ha.Mu, are taking their signature egg to a whole new level by releasing an entire collection of it. We’ve seen their sunny side up egg on their bags, coats and masks before, but now we’ll be getting the iconic symbol on a full collection of practical accessories. They just released the first batch of the egg collection which features their leather goods.

The sunny side up egg made its debut in the pair’s graduation fashion show back in 2017. When it came to preparing an outfit for the show, Mamu decided to don a huge egg over his coat. Attendees of their show not only found it cute to see a giant sunny side up egg walking on stage, but they also started calling the duo “Ham and Egg,” thanks to Abraham’s nickname. What started as a skit for fun during Ha.Mu’s humble beginnings became one of their most unforgettable moments as designers. Since then, the pair wanted the egg to be present in their work as a symbol of life. “The egg has always been a symbol of life…we believe that the pieces we are doing are flat art pieces until someone puts it on and gives [a] new life to it,” they said.

“For this lineup, we wanted to be able to bring our iconic signature on our pieces especially on accessories that we would often bring with us on the daily. These products are something that you can easily match and pair with the existing set of clothes you have. We also thought of doing these pieces because we want you guys to take something along with you that is fun! A piece that can be a conversation starter, a piece that can spark ideas or an interest to try out something new,” they wrote in their mailing list.

The Leather Egg Crossbody Bag’s original colorway retails for P9,500 while the black version retails for P10,850.
The Leather Egg Wallet’s original colorway retails for P3,900 while its black version retails for P4,950.

Preen was able to get a sneak peek at the three-year-old brand’s Sunny Side Up Egg collection and we can’t help but say that we’re eggzoited for the full drop. The first batch of the collection is already up on the Basic Movement website. Stay tuned for more cute things coming out on the 29th and 30th—we heard that some old faves and exclusive pieces will be making an appearance.
