Just last night, Variety reported that HBO Max is producing a revival of “Sex and the City.” “And Just Like That…” follows characters Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes’ friendship in their 50s. Production is set to start late spring, with the series spanning up to 10 episodes.
Stars of the original series Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis have previously hinted on the upcoming series in their Instagram accounts. Parker even captioned her post with: “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?” Unfortunately, there seems to be a certain Samantha Jones character missing from the equation.
Although we’re fans of the series, we (along with others) can’t help but remember a certain CW series that was forgotten and junked. Back in 2013, “The Carrie Diaries” premiered as a prequel to the “Sex and the City.” Frontlined by AnnaSophia Robb, the series revolved around how young Carrie Bradshaw finds herself dreaming about the Big Apple. The series was eventually cancelled in 2014 after its second season.
Aside from the amazing cast (which also included Austin Butler), the show tackled many issues about high school life and showed a lot of character development—especially that of school bully Donna LaDonna.
As much as we’d love to see the upcoming sequel of “Sex and the City,” we’re hoping producers would also consider a revival of “The Carrie Diaries.” We all need some guidance from young Carrie.
