Cha Eun-woo and Lee Jong-suk are off to save a city on ‘Decibel’

We’ve been on the lookout for the next adrenaline-filled South Korean flick. While we can never have too much of romantic K-dramas, it’s good to have a bit of variety. But we could never have dreamed that we’d one day get to see Cha Eun-woo and Lee Jong-suk in an action movie together. What does the film “Decibel” have in store for us?

“Decibel,” which began filming on April 20, has confirmed that Kim Rae-won (“Doctors”), Lee Jong-suk (“While You Were Sleeping”), Lee Sang-hee (“Our Love Story”) and Astro’s Cha Eun-woo (“True Beauty”) are among its cast members, according to a report from Sports Chosun today. It follows a group of people on a mission to stop a special bomb that responds to sound from going off in a city.

Kim Rae-won plays a navy lieutenant commander who won’t stop at anything to save the city. Alongside him, Lee Jong-suk stars as a navy captain (a pretty apt role since he just got discharged from his military service last January) who is fiercely loyal to his submarine crew.

Lee Sang-hee will play a senior officer of the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) squad and wife to the deputy commander. For Cha Eun-woo’s debut movie role, he will be the navy sailor in charge of sonar detection. It’s giving us a bit of Harry Styles on ”Dunkirk” vibes, which we’re really excited for.

Director Hwang In-ho (“Monster”) is known for his cross-genre filmography. For this film, his team sought advice from South Korea’s top submarine and bomb experts, so it’s interesting to see if he’ll bring sci-fi elements into this urban terrorism flick.

No word yet on when the film will be released. But when it does premiere, we’ll be sure to clear our schedules for it.
