JC Santos went grocery shopping with Daniel Radcliffe because some people are God’s favorites

Like any good parasocial celebrity-obsessed internet weirdo, inter-celeb interactions are some of my favorite things to read about and watch. There’s something so funny about famous people meeting other famous people like they aren’t famous themselves. Think Mark Ruffalo acting dazed at every red carpet event. (Mark!!! You’re a famous and popular actor too!!!) It’s doubly great when the celebs are from two different worlds. Say, one from the Philippine entertainment industry, and one from the wizarding world.

At a recent interview with Monster RX93.1, JC Santos talked about the most famous celebrity he’s met. “I was studying in Circle in the Square in New York,” he began his tale. “I remember this was 2013.” (ICYDK, the star studied musical theater in New York before pursuing an acting career in 2014.)

While he was texting by the sidewalk, he heard someone in a British accent asking, “Hello there. Do you know where Duane Reade is?” (Duane Reade is a combination pharmacy and convenience store, kinda like Mercury Drug.) Without looking at the person, Santos pointed to the direction of the store. When he finally looked up, he said that “as in sa loob ng utak ko, may sumigaw ng ‘Si Harry Potter!’”

Yep, the person inquiring was no other than Daniel Radcliffe. At that time, he was still probably living in the West Village in New York. (For a brief period of time toward the end of his”Harry Potter” career, Radcliffe was snapping up NY properties left and right.)

Back to the story. Santos said he was momentarily speechless but he was able to cough up a “Do you want me to take you there?” And that was it. “Naglakad kami ni Harry Potter… hinatid ko siya sa Duane Reade at sinamahan ko siyang mag-groceries.”

I’m very jealous and obsessed, possibly more than when a friend of a friend met Tom Felton at a bar in Japan and paid for his drink (and later hung out with him). Some people really are God’s favorites.
