There’s something so fun about being extra. Many, I’m sure, fantasize about holding something grand, dramatic, and fabulous just for us. It’s the inner Lucille Bluth and Moira Rose telling us to go ham with the opulence, it’s what we deserve, we’re so great. I suspect that’s why we still hold debuts.
I say all this because Kim Chiu pulled all the stops for her 32nd birthday yesterday, April 19. To celebrate the big day, she released photos of her incredibly dreamy birthday shoot. “I am another year older, wiser, and more grateful,” she wrote on Instagram.

True to her handle, @chinitaprincess, she very much gave off different princess vibes, from flower fairy princess to modern pastelcore princess. I especially love the former, with her wearing a ruffled ensemble by designer AJ Javier amid a bed of flowers.
You have set designer Erwin Botin to thank for the bed of flowers, while photographer Dookie Ducay took the photos. Meanwhile, she was styled by Adrianne Concepcion and Dodley Gallardo and had her makeup done by by Carissa Cielo Medved and Jaymar Lahaylahay. To the creatives who brought the shoot to life, she wrote, “Special thank you to [this] amazing team for doing this ng ‘biglaan.’”

Aside from the birthday shoot, she also celebrated by giving back. She held a charity event yesterday, distributing 1,000 food packs to kids and their families. We love a giving princess.

It seems the universe returned her generosity in kind: She got to see her family complete after eight years, received a grand greeting from fans via the Mall of Asia globe, and cried to Vice President Leni Robredo commending her for constantly defying whatever life has thrown at her.
“Indeed one of the most memorable birthdays I ever had,” she wrote. Happy 32nd, Kim!
