Fans waiting to see Liza Soberano and James Reid together after “Hello 2.0 Legends Only” finally got their wish.
It was a busy weekend for the actors slash singers in Los Angeles: They strutted the red carpets of Gold House’s inaugural Gold Gala on May 21 and the Asia Society Southern California’s Annual Gala on May 22. The cherry on top? They’re giving massive siblings vibes with their chic complementary looks.
Soberano stunned in a sheer black bustier terno by designer Anthony Ramirez at the Gold Gala. She paired this with diamond jewelry from Tessera and a clutch by designer Neil Felipp, namely the Oceania Minaudiere in Black Parchment, which has gorgeous two-toned metal details.
Reid also looked elegant in his floral gold printed dark green suit and a black shirt and tie combo underneath.
At the Asia Society Southern California’s Annual Gala, Soberano wore an all-black two-piece KIMIKIMI outfit featuring a crop top with a full sleeve extending to her fingertips and a fitted skirt with a train. She showed off fine diamond jewelry from Lvna with a sleek updo.
Similarly, Reid went with a less formal look for this red carpet. Forgoing the tie, he wore an open collar black shirt underneath a printed white blazer.
By the looks of it, their stylists went with subtly matching looks. And it’s not just us who noticed that they were twinning. Twitter user @carelesslane, for example, likened the pair to twin siblings Mavy and Cassy Legaspi. And with Reid sharing photos of them mingling with the other guests together on his Instagram Stories, we’re calling this friendship goals.
You may be wondering why the pair graced these events. Gold House is a nonprofit championing greater representation and socioeconomic equity for the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community. Held at Vibiana, the first Gold Gala and its theme “The New Gold Age” celebrated honorees such as Michelle Yeoh, Mindy Kaling, Henry Golding, and Daniel Dae Kim. Filipinos also made it to the list, among them Nobel Peace Prize awardee Maria Ressa, Bretman Rock, and Bella Poarch.
Similarly, Asia Society Southern California is a nonprofit that launches initiatives to bridge the US and the Asia-Pacific region. Its Annual Gala at the Skirball Cultural Center this year celebrated leaders from various fields, which include the creative team behind the Apple TV+ series “Pachinko.”
Soberano, our own Alexandra Trese, and Reid, who’s been repping local music overseas, were definitely in good company. Needless to say, we can’t wait to see them as honorees in the future.
