Will Blackpink’s Jennie make her actress debut on The Weeknd’s series?

As one of the faces of K-pop today, Blackpink’s Jennie making her Hollywood debut really feels like it’s just a matter of time. Blinks might not need to wait long for it because actress Jennie is said to be in talks to star in The Weeknd’s upcoming HBO series “The Idol.”

Jennie has received an offer for what is likely to be a supporting role or a cameo on the show, TV Daily reported today. “The Idol” is a six-episode music-industry drama series co-created by The Weeknd, “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson, and former Los Angeles nightlife entrepreneur Reza Fahim.

The Weeknd plays a self-help-guru-slash-cult leader who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol played by Lily-Rose Depp. Also joining the show as series regulars are Troye Sivan and “Insatiable’s” Debby Ryan.

With this roster, it seems entirely possible that we’ll get treated to a musical performance or two. Jennie doing a spicy number with Sivan at an upscale club? They’d eat and leave no crumbs.

If Jennie does take the offer, she won’t be in the company of complete strangers. Jennie and The Weeknd first sparked collab rumors when they were spotted sharing a friendly hug in LA back in November 2021. We’ve also seen Jennie hang out with fellow Channel brand ambassador Depp at Paris Fashion Week. And who knows? Maybe Rosé introduced Jennie to Sivan after the two became friends at the 2021 Met Gala.

Will Jennie join CL and Rain in the ranks of K-pop idols who’ve made their Hollywood acting debut? Fingers crossed.
