Weekend markets are starting to be as common in Manila as the food trucks that park themselves on open lots. And with more home-based vendors offering the kind of organic fare and products we might usually find on Etsy and Pinterest, siblings Sambie and Miguel Rodriguez, along with their aunt Stella Que were struck with an idea: What if they gathered all their favorite vendors in one place? Hence, The Organic Market was born.
“We were casually talking about how difficult it was to source organic food in Manila when all figured, ‘Why not create an organic market ourselves instead for someone else to do it?’” the group states in a press release.
Soon enough, other like-minded individuals started to lend their support, these include Erwan Heussaff, Bubbles Paraiso, Bianca King, Victor Basa, Bianca Mabanta, Katarina Rodriguez, Kim Atienza, Marco Lobregat, Ava Daza, Maggie Wilson-Consunji, and Raymond Gutierrez.
Having enlisted the participation of vendors like Art of Pie, Adam’s Ice Cream, Succulents by Sab, and Proudly Promdi, among several others, The Organic Market PH opened to the public this morning and will be open until 6:00 p.m. at the Burgos Park, Forbestown Road in Bonifacio Global City. The next market will be on Nov. 8.
