These days, we always find ourselves stuck in our hectic schedules that we don’t get enough time to treat ourselves. And what better way to do that than with some good food at a nice restaurant, whether by ourselves or with friends.
Then, there’s Flame―a fairly new restaurant situated on the 16th floor of Discovery Primea which is a new go-to for fine dining aficionados. According to executive chef Luis Chikiamco, it boasts of “modern European cuisine and Asian combinations with bold, intriguing directions.”
For your appetizer, you’ll be served with their version of the traditional Quezo de Bola and Hamon created with cheese four ways―a soufflé, foam, sauce, and a crisp―and glazed ham.
To balance out the sharp quezo flavor, the next course is a light and flaky Seared Chilean Sea Bass which has a mild smoky flavor from the fish to the shiitake mushrooms surrounding it.
The second main course is a Pan Roasted Duck Breast with a pumpkin puree and spiced honey glaze. This dish awakens the palate with its tangy flavor from the honey.
And lastly, you’ll be served their deconstructed Flame’s Tiramisu with a vin santo ice cream in the middle and amaretto crumb. This is the perfect dessert for both the sweet and non-sweet tooth.
Each dish is accompanied with an assortment of white and red wines. Whether you’re with someone or not, wine-pairing is a good learning experience when you’re a first-timer. Also, imagine the satisfaction of swirling a glass of Merlot while overlooking the Makati city skyline.
Overall, the meal will be a welcome surprise with the flavor combinations. Plus, Flame’s ambiance will really motivate you to put on a dress and strap on your best heels, and take yourself on a date at the end of a hectic week
