I know it’s crazy to wear makeup to the pool or the beach. But when something is marketed as “swimmables,” you know it’s in for the long haul. Cargo Cosmetics, a Canadian makeup brand since 1996, finally found its way in Manila and we’re telling what we think of the few samples we snatched up.
The star of the show is, as I mentioned, their Swimmables line. These eye pencils, blush, and bronzers are waterproof without any goof. They are also created with the traveling individual in mind (hence, Cargo) so you don’t have to worry if they’ve all you’ve got on a long flight away. Kim Kardashian is a fan of the Eye Pencil in Black Sea. I tried it for myself the other day and can say that it’s highly-pigmented but soft enough to draw on the waterline. (Now you know how to complete that smoky eye look.)
On the other hand, model and actress Molly Sims packs their bronzer in her travel kit as America Ferreria swears by their Eyeshadow Quad in Oceania. Both of these come in Cargo’s signature tin packaging which eliminates the worry of breaking the product or the container while on-the go. As someone who’s seen one too many glass lids and plastic covers break in just a two-hour flight, I can tell you this is a game-changer. If you’re a lip gloss kind of woman, you can also pick from their lip glosses, a favorite of Lost’s Evangeline Lilly, which are moisturizing and make your lips look juicy. Not bad, I guess, especially if you’re stuck in an island.
I also highly suggest you pick up their Magic Brush which is a small and compact tool made of soft hairs and can be used for powder foundation and blush. What did I tell you? It’s all about makeup for traveling.
Now all we have left to do is to book that ticket.
