Apart from the anticipated release of Fenty Beauty, Rihanna has another milestone to look forward to. She will be receiving the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year Award on Feb. 28.
The Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award will be given for Rihanna’s charity work for the Clara and Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program. This program was founded by the singer to promote education and give students from Caribbean countries the chance to attend college in the US. But that’s not all RiRi has done in the past year.
“Rihanna has charitably built a state-of- the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados,” says S. Allen Counter, Harvard Foundation’s director. She’s also supported the Global Partnership for Education and the Global Citizen Project.
Who knew Rihanna was doing all of this while making chart-topping music and designing her own fashion line? Congratulations!
