The hot topic circling news lately is the issue of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) making it difficult for Uber and Grab to operate. For the past few days, netizens have been sharing their public transportation horror stories, trying to prove that ride-sharing apps like Uber and Grab are safer than taxis and other public transportation. Coleen Garcia even posted a series of tweets, sharing how she almost got kidnapped while riding a taxi alone. She shared with her followers that she used to ride taxis all the time but she never felt safe.
She also added how Uber and Grab have made commuting more efficient for everyone.
Coleen also retweeted senator Grace Poe’s statement wherein she announced her filing a resolution and bill to address the issue.
Yesterday, both Uber and Grab released a statements saying that in the coming days they will be meeting with LTFRB and legislators to find middle ground with the LTFRB’s order. So everything should be back to normal in no time.
