The hot topic circling news lately is the issue of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) making it difficult for Uber and Grab to operate. For the past few days, netizens have been sharing their public transportation horror stories, trying to prove that ride-sharing apps like Uber and Grab are safer than taxis and other public transportation. Coleen Garcia even posted a series of tweets, sharing how she almost got kidnapped while riding a taxi alone. She shared with her followers that she used to ride taxis all the time but she never felt safe.
I used to ride regular taxis alone every single day to get around, and on most days, they did NOT make me feel safe. #WeWantUberGrab

Used to ride w drivers who didn’t make me feel safe. Some were rude & obnoxious, some cat-called, some demanded more money. #WeWantUberGrab

Not generalizing all taxis & not saying that all Ü/G drivers r safe &trustworthy. All I’m saying is, pls give us the option. #WeWantUberGrab

We’d know what makes us feel safe, & Über&Grab do. If ur gonna ask anyone, then ask those who have experienced using both. #WeWantUberGrab

Yesterday, both Uber and Grab released a statements saying that in the coming days they will be meeting with LTFRB and legislators to find middle ground with the LTFRB’s order. So everything should be back to normal in no time.
