Taylor Swift’s Alleged Sexual Assault Case Has Made Its Way to Court

Taylor Swift’s alleged sexual assault case against David Mueller is currently on trial and she shares the details as she takes the stand. The incident that led to this trial happened in 2013 during a fan meet-and-greet. David was a radio DJ at the time and allegedly put his hand up Taylor’s skirt and grabbed her butt while they were taking a photo together. David’s employer was notified of the alleged sexual assault, which led to his job termination. He then sued Taylor in 2015 for at least $3 million in damages for losing his job and effects from being accused as a sex offender.

On the stand, David admitted that he did make physical contact but only with “what seemed to be a ribcage or ribs.”

During Taylor’s testimony, she shared, “It was a shocking thing that I have never dealt with before. He grabbed my ass underneath my skirt. It was underneath my skirt.” After the incident, she went on the event because she didn’t want to disappoint fans who waited to meet her.

At the trial it was evident that Taylor was going to stay firm with her responses. She also addressed the opposition attorney, Gabe McFarland, by his first name (not sir) during the cross-examination. When asked how she felt when David lost his job she responded with, “I’m not going to allow you or your client [to] make me feel in any way that this is my fault. Here we are years later, and I’m being blamed for the unfortunate events of his life that are the product of his decisions—not mine.” When referring to the photo from the incident and how there is no visible evidence of anything inappropriate, Taylor clapped back saying “Gabe, this is a photo of him with his hand up my skirt—with his hand on my ass. You can ask me a million questions—I’m never going to say anything different. I never have said anything different.”

Taylor’s countersuit is for $1 million and she said that any money she might receive will be given to “charitable organizations dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard.”
