This Eveningwear Trend Will Make You Ditch Your Heels

Wearing gowns and heels are so off-season now. Not to mention that it gets uncomfortable for long periods too. The need for comfort anywhere, at any time is emphasized by pairing sneakers with your eveningwear.

The spring 2017 runways of Alexis Mabille and MSGM showcased dressy pieces paired with standard sneakers. This made the ensembles more interesting and youthful.

Rihanna also dabbled in this combo with a Molly Goddard ball gown. Vogue noted, “The counterintuitive styling trick added a bit of real world practicality to Goddard’s frothy layers of tulle.”

Karlie Kloss also told People that she can wear sneakers with anything, including a gown. The tricks you learn when you’re a model on-the-go.

So if you want to pass up the stilettos and pumps for a while, here are some suggestions ranging from plain white to pastel.

Adidas Originals Court Vantage Leather-Trimmed Suede Sneakers

These tennis shoes come in a neutral beige color which you can match with an LBD or any colored gown. It also has a lace-up front so you can easily slip it on and not worry about your laces getting untied. Available at Glorietta 2.

Zara Platform Sneakers

For added height, go for sneakers with elevated soles. This sky blue one from Zara will look great with long gowns, particularly white ones or a blue piece like what Rihanna was wearing. Plus, you won’t tip over thanks to its thick and durable sole. Available at Power Plant Mall.

Nike Women’s Air Force 1 ’07 Mid Shoes

If you’re not into high-cut sneakers, this might be the time for you to try them. The Nike Air Force 1 is a nostalgic and timeless choice dating back from the 1980’s. It also has a velcro strap so you can wear them quick when you’re in a rush. Available on Zalora PH.

Axel Arigato Mirrored Leather Sneakers

Consider this Axel Arigato pair for your shimmery holiday outfit. It comes in a metallic bronze color with Italian leather soles. The footbeds are cushioned too, perfect for when you need to walk around and socialize at formal events. Available on Net-a-Porter.

H&M Embroidered Sneakers

Bored of the usual black shoes? Go for this embroidered H&M pair which come with red flowers on the side. Available at SM Makati.

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Slip-On Sneakers

The models from MSGM’s show wore neon orange sneakers to match one of their white dresses. This pair from Onitsuka Tiger has a similar hue, plus it’s slip-on. Available at Bonifacio High Street.
