As the holiday season rolls in, Christmas pieces and decorations are starting to go up as well. If you’re looking for a fresh take on holiday pieces to add to your home, designer Ito Kish has carefully selected two collections to choose from. Inspired by modern minimalism and Scandinavian design, Ito has chosen home furnishings for the Cool Life and Icelandic collections for Robinsons Department Store.
The Cool Life collection is a contemporary approach to entertaining during the Christmas season. It has a blue and white color palette, brought to life with different prints and patterns. Here, you can choose from ceramic plates, mugs, vases, and bowls.
If you’re looking for warm hues and simple design, turn to the Icelandic collection. Inspired by hygge, which is a Nordic tradition that celebrates comfort and joy at home. You can pick from a selection of pillows and scented candles.
To get a better feel for the collection and Ito’s design process, we asked him a few questions.
Do you have any tips for people starting to decorate their home for the holidays?
To start with, it will be good to gather your thoughts and come up with a story on how you want your space to be decorated. It can be color story or theme or even material story.
What are your favorite pieces from the collections you picked out?
They are all my favorites but I have to mention that the Cool Life Collection is a good one because of the variety of products to complete your needs. The candles are such a good buy and perfect as gifts. And please check the mugs, they are beautiful for less than P200.
What are your go-to tricks when decorating your own home during the Christmas season?
For the Christmas tree, I try to add a few new ornaments to update the existing collection. I keep at least a collection of two sets so I do not really have to repeat my decors every year.
Are there any home pieces that people should consider investing money on?
Beddings, you know you spend the longest time in a day on your bed. You want to sleep well and feel good. Check out the Cool Life Collection beddings.
What’s your favorite color palette?
Blue and white.
Where do you usually draw inspiration from?
Anywhere and everywhere.
Does your own personal style reflect in your designs?
Of course it does but in the case of doing a collection for Robinsons Department Store, I considered the market and worked on that.
