Mac Miller’s friend defends Ariana Grande in light of her ex’s death

The world was shocked when news of rapper Mac Miller’s untimely death broke out. Some blamed the tragedy, reportedly due to an accidental overdose, to his ex, Ariana Grande. She had since disabled comments on her Instagram account, and paid tribute to her former boyfriend of two years through a simple Instagram post.

In the past, when blamed for Mac’s DUI arrest, Ariana defended herself on Twitter: “I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem.” Now, Mac’s friend, Shane Powers is backing up her previous statement in a podcast he released entitled “Shane Says Goodbye To Mac Miller.” He said that there “could not have been anybody more supportive of him being sober than Ariana.” He revealed  on The Shane Show that  when “Ariana and him were together, they were very much in love,” adding that, “She was incredible when he was first sobering up. She was a f*cking G to him.”

Shane revealed further that Ariana “was deeply helpful and effective in keeping Mac sober and helping him get sober. And she was all about him being healthy, period, in this area of his life.” He also said that he “took phone calls from her. ‘How do I help? What do I do?’ This little girl was unbelievably involved and helpful to him being healthy. Because whether he [was] an addict or not, the way that Mac partied was not healthy.”
