Allow us to have an excited fit because a lot of things are being announced today for Netflix.
One thing that hits close to home will be the upcoming anime show Trese—based on a graphic novel written by Filipinos Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo.
As if Pinoy pride is not already oozing, the protagonist is a woman. “Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.” Okay, she’s like 10x more badass for being a crime fighter too!

We’re so glad more stories with female leads are coming out and for sure this is just the beginning.
The upcoming show, which BTW is set in Manila, will be produced by Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson of BASE Entertainment and the executive producer is Jay Oliva well-known for his work with Wonder Woman and Avatar: The Legend of Korra.
