Last week, Forbes released their list of highest-paid women in music for this year. To the surprise of several fandoms, Katy Perry came out on top, raking in $83 million from June 2017 to June 2018. She did this by playing 80 dates during her Witness Tour, as well as her hosting stint on American Idol which reportedly earned her $20 million.
When the news broke, fans instantly questioned why Katy got this honor and not Taylor Swift or Beyoncé. Take note that Taylor placed second with $80 million and Beyoncé is third with $60 million—still huge earnings for all the projects they’ve done for a year. Still, this doesn’t seem to be enough for fans, some of them are Swifties, and have started to hate on Katy because they’re salty AF.
While we’re aware that Katy and Taylor weren’t always okay in the past, there’s still no reason to bring anyone down just because your fave didn’t come out on top. Besides, the two singers already buried the hatchet so there’s really no reason to be hostile towards Katy. As for the fans of the other singers in the list: Don’t create drama between Katy and your idols.
All of them worked hard to get where they are (along with the millions under their names), which included successful worldwide tours. Just be happy for them, won’t ya?
