Michelle Yeoh, who plays Eleanor Young in Crazy Rich Asians, sure knows how to make a red carpet appearance. It’s the Golden Globes today and the film is in the running for Best Drama. Regardless if it takes home the award or not, Michelle’s accessory of choice already won our hearts.
The actress wore an emerald green dress and paired it with the iconic ring she wore in the film. Fun fact: She didn’t borrow it from the CRA costume department. Michelle really owns the massive ring.
In an interview with The Knot, Michelle said that she wanted Eleanor’s ring to look perfect. The original one was modeled after Jackie Kennedy’s engagement ring. “It was very important for it to be real. And Eleanor was a character who knew what she wore had to be flawless. Her [own] mother-in-law did not approve and did not give her the family ring at the end of the day… so that ring had to be very special.”
The question in our minds now is if Michelle would wear this ring in the sequel, China Rich Girlfriend. Speaking of that, director Jon M. Chu also revealed to Kyle Buchanan of New York Times that the film will premiere in 2020. So we have a whole year to prepare our feelings for that one.
