Our predictions for 2019’s swimsuit trends

March is in two days, which means that summer is officially around the corner. Actually, with this heat we’ve been feeling during the day, it might as well be. Quick story: I just got back from the beach last Monday and it most def felt like it’s the middle of April.

That said, our feeds are now filled with celebrities and influencers, as well as runway shows, showing off swimsuits. This gives us a general idea of what will be trending this summer. So, if you still haven’t gone shopping for new pieces, refer to our report of what will be hot (excuse the pun) in the coming months.

Unexpected animal print

Various animal prints continue to be a trend. We’ve seen swimsuits in the past with tiger stripes  and cheetah spots. Recently, snakeskin was having a moment as “the new leopard print.” What we didn’t expect was Kylie Jenner in a cow-print one-piece.

Love it or hate it, it’s a memoorable lewk. (Sorry.)

Show-stopping neon

It looks like this color palette is still going strong this year. In 2018, Kim Kardashian showed up to a beach in a neon pink bikini, making her stand out from a mile away. If you’re looking for a similar effect, refer to Chromat’s NYFW show. The brand featured models strutting in neon pieces ranging from pink to highlighter yellow and green.

Solenn Heussaff and model Alaiza Malinao were also spotted in vibrant pieces by Boom Sason. The former was wearing a traffic cone orange piece, which is considered one of summer’s trendiest colors this year according to Refinery29.

Mismatched sets

If, for some reason, you can’t find the right pair for your two-piece suit, just pick another one that complements the color. Take inspiration from Sue Ramirez who wore a black bra with a printed bottom.

Tube tops

Kimi Juan and Kat Gumabao are both making the case for wearing tubes at the beach. Kimi opted for a checkered set. Kat also went for a mismatched set with a white tube and green bottoms, another one was a red ensemble.

Aquamarine dreams

Nothing says summer than matching your swimsuit to the sea. We’re inspired by beauty queens Rachel Peters and Kylie Verzosa’s blue-toned suits.

Choose from a one-piece or bikini style. You can even go for a metallic finish, which is also considered as a 2019 swimsuit trend.
