Angelica Panganiban has been the subject of several headlines in the past few months. This began after photos of Carlo Aquino, who she was allegedly dating again after starring in Exes Baggage, surfaced where he was on vacation with another woman.
Angelica has kept mum about their relationship for months and only confirmed that she’s no longer friends with Carlo just last week. While #CarGel fans were probably reeling from the confirmation, Angelica’s interview on Gandang Gabi Vice last Sunday made everyone feel more heartbroken.
In a GGV segment, Vice Ganda asked a series of questions relating to Angelica’s cryptic tweets. The discussion became emotional when Angelica talked about the time she found out Playhouse was ending. “Kailangan mo tanggapin ang mga bagay na tapos na,” (You have to accept the things that ended) she said. She may be pertaining to the show, but based on Vice’s subtle reaction and questions, it’s clear this can be applied to her recent relationship too.
Angelica then opened up about how her past relationships with Derek Ramsay, John Lloyd Cruz, and Carlo Aquino have affected not just her, but also the people around them. But she ensured that she’s happy right now. “Lagi ko naman sinasabi na di natin kailangan ng ibang tao para magpasaya sa’tin. Nakakalungkot kasi meron ding iba na naging parte na ng buhay na kailangan na mawala,” (I’ve always said that we don’t need other people to make us happy. It’s just sad because there are those who become part of our lives that we need to let go of) she said while holding back tears.
But you know what? Let Angelica’s words remind you that breakups suck, but you shouldn’t hold on to people who have no intention of staying. Can I get an amen?!
